Reporters Misunderstood My Dad

Madami talagang intrigero at intrigera sa showbiz ano? Marami diyan gustong siraan si Ejay. Stop it people. Stop it.

Reyma Buan-Deveza/abs-cbnNEWS.com: It hasn't been a week since Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus Big Winner Ejay Falcon won the grand prize in the TV reality show, but he already has his hands full swatting away at rumors and intrigues hounding him.

After denying rumors that he had a past gay relationship and was once a male prostitute, Ejay now has to protect his foster dad Erning from accusations of having grown big-headed and arrogant after Ejay won the PBB Teen Edition grand prize.

In ABS-CBN's daily morning show "Umagang Kay Ganda," Ejay defended his foster dad, saying that the latter is the same person as before.

"Hindi naman po siguro yumabang, sa totoo lang sobrang malaking tulong po iyong napanalunan namin iyong premyp naa-appreciate namin iyon sobrang tulong ang magagawa noon sa amin. Pero kilala ko si Papa hindi siya mayabang," Ejay said.

Rumors that Ejay's foster dad Erning has become big-headed started spreading after he was interviewed by some reporters during a press conference. According to the rumor, Erning belittled the P400,000 cash amount he received from PBB show as the first Guardian Big Winner.

Erning also denied a rumor about how he supposedly used the money to buy votes for his son Ejay.

"Hindi naman totoo yon 'yung sinasabi na boto, wala pa akong nakukha sa ABS-CBN, kay Kuya wala pa akong natatanggap na katiting na pera. Yung ganoon kung talagang nanalo ang aking anak binoto lang ng masa. Wala akong bibitawang pera doon," said Erning.

(When the text voting happened, I had not received a single cent from ABS-CBN yet. The money had not been turned over to me. So the votes my son received really came out of the support of the audience.)

Erning also said that he would never spend P400,000 just to buy votes--he would much rather spend such an amount on the welfare of his children.

"Hindi po totoo yon, kung para sa akin hindi malaking pera yon, 'yun ay makakatulong lang sa pag-aaral ng aking mga anak. Gasino lang naman P400,000 lang naman. Hindi ko na kayamanan yon. Hindi ko mababaon sa kamatayan ko yon," Erning told reporters.

(It's not true. If you ask me, it's not such a big amount. I would use it on my children's education. It's only P400,000. It's not wealth that belongs to me. I won't be able to bring it to the grave.)

Falcon said that his father's statement was only misinterpreted by reporters, pointing out that his father is not used to attending press conferences.

Ejay, 18, who hails from Mindoro, was proclaimed the Big Winner of PBB Teen Edition Plus last Saturday, June 7.

Right from the start, Falcon showed that he's always ready to take on any challenge, fueled by his desire to free his family from the poverty that broke his parents' marriage.

This was particularly evident during their Puerto Princesa adventure wherein he bravely faced and completed the physical tasks. He also showed how good a son he is during an emotional encounter with foster dad Erning.

During that conversation, Ejay admitted to his foster dad that he knew all along that they were not biologically related. Ejay however said that he continues to love his foster father as his real dad, despite the truth.
